Brooklyn is Inuvialuit and Gwich’In, originally from Inuvik, Northwest Territories. Sherecently worked with the Inuvialuit Regional Corporation (IRC) as an Inuvialuit Research Advisor within the Innovation, Inuvialuit Science, and Climate Change Division, coordinating and monitoring research projects across the Inuvialuit Settlement Region and ensuring that Inuvialuit values, knowledge, andpriorities were reflected in all the research.
During her time with IRC, Brooklyn supported projects and committees, including the IRC Research and Policy Committee, the development of the Inuvialuit Research Ethics Committee, and the coordination of community engagement initiatives throughout the six Inuvialuit communities. Her work strengthened therelationship between researchers and Inuvialuit communities, promoting transparency, collaboration, and respect for Indigenous Knowledge.
Before joining IRC, Brooklyn worked as a sales representative, gaining experience incommunication, relationship-building, and client engagement. Earlier in hercareer, she worked as a support assistant at a local school in Inuvik, helping to create inclusive learning environments and supporting students.
Recently married to her husband, Shawn, Brooklyn has relocated from Inuvik to Edmonton, where she plans to enjoy exploring the city’s food scene and volunteering at the local animal shelters, giving back to a cause close to her heart.
